Abstract
The paper presents the physical and mechanical characteristics of secondary quartzites from the "Crn Vrv"
locality, which is located southwest of Kratovo, in the Kratovo-Zletovo volcanic area, Republic of North
Macedonia.
Secondary quartzites or silexes are a product of hydrothermal alterations in rocks of intermediate composition (andesites, andesitic tuffs and breccias).
The examination of the physical and mechanical characteristics of the material, its chemical composition, as well as special analyses of the crushed material, showed that the material can be used in construction as a
tampon material for roads and also as an aggregate for mineral mixtures of concrete.
