Abstract

More than 40 speleological objects were registered on the territory of the Galicica National
Park. The majority of them are caves, however, there are also precipices, and along the coast
of the Ohrid and Prespa Lake there are several rock shelters. Fourteen species of troglobites,
twenty species of troglophiles, about ten species of trogloxenes and accidental trogloxenes
were recorded in the caves. Nine species of bats use these caves as their habitat. Galicica
National Park is the first protected area in North Macedonia for which a database of caves
has been created. The database includes 39 caves, with a total of 22 features for each cave,
separately.
