Abstract

The growing complexity of contemporary societal challenges necessitates educational approaches that move beyond disciplinary boundaries. This paper investigates the pedagogical value of interdisciplinary in teaching and learning, framing it as a means of fostering holistic understanding, critical inquiry, and problem-solving skills. Unlike traditional subject-centered instruction, interdisciplinary education integrates knowledge, methods, and perspectives from multiple fields, enabling learners to address real-world problems in a contextualized manner.
The paper outlines the conceptual foundations of interdisciplinary and differentiates it from multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, emphasizing its unique potential to generate integrated knowledge while preserving disciplinary specificity. It further examines methodological pillars such as collaborative teaching, curricular flexibility, and project-based learning.
Educational benefits include enhanced student motivation, deeper conceptual comprehension, improved communication and collaboration skills, and greater learner engagement. For educators, interdisciplinary supports professional growth, innovation, and improved instructional practices, though challenges remain in planning, assessment, curriculum alignment, and institutional support.
The paper concludes that interdisciplinary education is essential for preparing learners to navigate complexity, think holistically, and apply knowledge creatively across diverse contexts. Sustainable implementation requires supportive environments, investment in teacher training, and curricular adaptability
