Geopolitical importance of maritime passage in Europe

There are numerous straits and channels in the world, but strategically important are those that are
obligatory and not avoidable for transit of goods. In European context there are different crossing points that
connect states and continents, through a shortened route, representing important and valuable for transit of
energetic resources. This paper provides detailed description of the European straits and channels as well as
daily and yearly data on the transit of oil and oil products.
