Abstract

Candida exists harmlessly in mucus membranes such as ears, eyes, gastrointestinal
tract, mouth, nose, reproductive organs, sinuses, skin, stool and vagina. Oral Candidiasis
is one of the commonly occurring fungal infections of oral cavity. It appears in the oral
cavity of 45-65% of healthy individuals. The candidiasis is seen very often at patients with:
total and partial dentures, hyposalivation, or the use of immunosuppressants or antimicrobials and impaired immunity and nutrition deficiency. In denture wearers, the prevalence of Candida increases to 60-100%. Spongeous dental tissue is perfect area for growing oral candidiasis. Denture stomatitis is a common inflammatory reaction, multifactorial etiology, which is usually associated with Candida species. In the present article we
will be reviewing about pathogenesis, predisposing factors, clinical manifestations and
diagnoses and treatment strategies of Candida infection associated with denture wearers in dental practicе.
