Abstract

This presentation was given in the occasion of the seminar as part of the activities of the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory organized by the University of Salerno. The lesson discussed the difficult path of European integration of the Republic of Macedonia since its independence from Jugoslavia in 1991 until today. Specific focus was given to the two international disputes between Greece and Macedonia that is the so called 'name dispute' that has risen in international relations with the independence of the Republic of Macedonia, and on the other hand, the so called 'language or identity dispute' between Bulgaria and Macedonia, a dispute that has been raised by Bulgaria in the past couple of years, since the signature of the Treaty of friendship in 2007. Therefore, the purpose of the presentation was to understand these bilateral disputes and to discuss the role of the European Union in Macedonia's European Integrations.
