Abstract

J. L. Nancy is a French philosopher who was insisting on rethinking the community, as a central term in understanding contemporary politics. According to him, the community is a project of the future, because society can no longer fulfill the needs of the lost modern person. Even more, co-being precedes being, thus Nancy continues to develop Heidegger`s idea of Mitsein.
In this paper, we will try to read Nancy in the light of an orthodox understanding of “eucharistia” and thus to shed some intriguing light on Nancy`s community interpreting it as a “sobranie”, “sobornost”.
