Abstract

The presentation examines the Refugee crisis in 2015 in the EU known also as the solidarity crisis, in relation to North Macedonia. It outlines some observations on the causalities of the different policies responses of the EU and Member states in relation to the crisis and their impact upon North Macedonia's policy on asylum and migration. The focus is put on the shortcomings of the EU asylum and migration system and the new methods that the EU uses to overcome these shortcomings through externalizing EU's asylum and migration policies to third countries and creating new borderlands in the EU neighborhood.
