Voltammetric and Microscopic Metods for Characterizing Conducting Polymers-Gulaboski 2021.pdf - Presentation Download (4MB) |
Abstract
Conductive polymers are macro molecules synthesized from pi-conjugated systems that conduct electricity. Such systems may have very large almost metallic-like conductivity. Major benefits of conductive polymers is their processability, mainly by dispersion. Conductive polymers are generally not thermoplastics, i.e., they are not thermoformable. But, like insulating polymers, they are mainly considered as organic materials. Although the conductive polymers have a electrical conductivity, they do not show similar mechanical properties to other commercially available polymers. The electrical and structural features of conductive polymers can be analyzed by using microscopic and electrochemical methods. In this presentation, we give insight into the major features of conductive polymers and we present some of the microscopic techniques (AFM, SEM) and electrochemical techniques (Voltammetry, EIS) that are commonly used for characterization of many conductive polymers.
