Abstract

Acute abdomen is a condition that demands urgent attention and treatment. The acute
abdomen may be caused by an infection, inflammation, vascular occlusion, or obstruction. The approach to a patient
with an acute abdomen should include a thorough history and physical exam. The location of pain is critical as it
may signal a localized process. Purpose of the paper: The purpose of the paper is to get us to know with diagnostic
procedures, approach and care in patients with acute abdomen. The cause of the acute pain, their symptoms, signs,
diagnoses and treatments. Methods and materials: Data from the report for percentage coverage in persons with
acute abdomen in the Clinical hospital – Shtip of the intensive care department, for the city Shtip and the
surrounding towns and villages, for the period from May 2017-May 2020.
Results and Discussion: The percentage of patients diagnosed with acute abdomen has been high in recent years. In
the municipality of Shtip, several surgical interventions were successfully performed with a good outcome.
Dependingon the age we have a different percentage of patients. So that the young population is most affected by
Appendicitis, while the older ones are most affected by Ulkus and Cholecystitis.
Conclusion: Acute abdomen is a disease that if not treated in time, can be fatal or leave severe consequences
