Abstract
Clinical-biochemical laboratories run specific types of laboratory analyzes, which largely depend on the adequate application of well-defined quality standards. The clinical-biochemical laboratory at the General City Hospital “8th September” in Skopje regularly performs internal control of all biochemical parameters. For the needs of this research, we analyzed the results that were obtained during the month of June 2019. for the following parameters: glucose, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, ALT and AST. Analyzes were performed on a SIEMENS Dimension® RxL biochemical analyzer, after a periodic calibration. The values of the control samples do not exceed the allowed deviations, which means that the system is under control and that daily work can be started, i.e. the patient's results are accepted. The results of one-year external control of analytical quality of twenty individually analyzed selected parameters are also within the allowed deviations, which shows that the laboratory achieves top quality. These data are relevant for one of the largest clinical-biochemical laboratories in the Republic of North Macedonia and thus emphasize the importance of regular internal and external quality control of results, in order to obtain accurate results of which the health and life of patients depend.
