Abstract

The Conference was organized by the Queen Mary University of London as part of the Jean Monnet Networks project "Migration and asylum policies system" - MAPS, coordinated by the University of Naples 'Orientale' for the period 2018-2022. The aim of the Conference was to discuss the barriers faced by forced migrants in accessing their rights imposed by the Covid pandemic. This conference engages in a critical appraisal of the law’s response to the challenges faced by those searching safe haven in the current context; and interrogats the law’s conflicting role in creating vulnerability and hostility, while also being a source of protection. The Conference was delivered in three panels where it was problimatized the unique position of forced migrants in times of emergency and considering the risks and opportunities of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum of the European Commission. From the University Goce Delcev - Stip, as a partner in the MAPS project, Olga Koshevaliska and Elena Maksimova participated with a presentation paper in the Second panel, while Ana Nikodinovska Krsteska participated as a moderator to the Panel.
