Abstract

The open-ended investment funds are type of institutional investors commonly used by retail investors. These financial institutions are intermediaries that enables an alternative away of investment to the small investors. Accordingly, this is the reason why their popularity raised up in the last decade on the Macedonian market. According the Macedonian Law on investment fund these types of funds are not legal subjects, but this is provided by the licensed fund management company that governed with the fund/funds under strict legal norms. Moreover, the Macedonian legislation has implemented or transponded more of the provisions under the UCITS directive which enables these types of funds to operate freely thought the EU .
