Abstract

Introduction: Accommodation facilities for the elderly are a very important part of the social life of the
population, and more recently, issues related to them are increasingly actualized. Unlike in the past, when these
institutions were mistrusted, the modern world is increasingly investing in them, improving the conditions for stay
and the services of the employees, increasing the interest and use of the homes by the citizens, and because of that I
decided to explain this topic in more detail in the diploma paper.
Aim: To show the manner of accommodation, care and health coverage of the elderly in the geriatric centres.
Materials and methods: descriptive method of taking statistics from the PHI geriatric center "13 November"
Skopje and from Mother Teresa, Zlokucani, Skopje.
Results and discussion: Gerontology Institute "13 November" - Skopje with a capacity of 340 hospital beds and
100 beds in the elderly. The department "Mother Teresa" -Skopje has 111 beds. During the visit, a total of 88
beneficiaries were taken to the facility. According to sex, 40 are men, and 48 are women.
Conclusion: The need for centres for the elderly is largely meaningful.
