Abstract
Developing countries continued to be the primary focus activities of foreign arms sales. The contracts for the transfer of weapons to developing countries are continuously increasing globally lately.
The value of all contracts for the transfer of weapons to developing countries in 2011 costed over 71,5 $ US billion dollars. This represents a significant increase compared to 2010, and the value of all arms deliveries to developing nations was nearly 28,0 $ US billions of dollars higher compared to 2004.
The main focus of this paper is the level of arms transfers by major weapons suppliers to nations in the developing world - where there is greater opportunity and potential for the emergence of regional military conflicts that currently exist, and where most of the trade conventional weapons are carried.
For decades, providing conventional weapons to friendly states was an instrument of foreign policy backed by military superpowers and their allies, today motivation is based on economic interests and stakeholders outside of national security policy.
