Abstract

The aim of the study is to evaluate the effect of the complex kinesitherapeutic approach and the specialized kinesitherapeutic method (SKTM) in patients with supratentorial unilateral stroke in the chronic period (SUSChP).
Material and Methods: The study was conducted with 67 patients with SUSChP (56 patients included in the experimental group - 32 men and 24 women, with duration of the disease 7.8 ± 2.0 months, and 11 patients in the controlled group - 9 men and 2 women, with duration of the disease 7.3 ± 1.5 months).
The early (10th day) and late (1st month) effects of the application of the specialized kinesitherapeutic method in patients with chronic hemiparesis are evaluated in a comparative aspect with the control group, which is the usual kinesitherapy.
Results: The present study shows that the complex kinesitherapeutic approach permanently improves the functional possibilities for motor recovery, balance reactions, kinetic gait and orthostatic reactivity in patients with SUSChP.
Conclusion: Applying a complex kinesitherapeutic approach with specialized kinesitherapy with moderate intensity and a one month duration of exercise results in a significant improvement in the functional possibilities in patients with SUSChP.
