Abstract

An efficient transport system is a key factor for economic development in each country. In the creation and functioning of the common market in the EU, the harmonized development of transport policy is the central figure for this success. Effective transport infrastructure is the basis for achieving the free movement of people, goods, services and capital, which is the main goal of EU policy.
The current situation regarding the distribution, the quality of the transport infrastructure in the Republic of Macedonia. Macedonia is not at all at a satisfactory level, especially in certain regions of the country with the conditions of the road network, and especially with railway and combined traffic. The global changes in the economic policy of the Republic of Macedonia must be accompanied by appropriate changes in the transport policy. Improvements in the transport conditions in Macedonia represent a strategic national priority and contribution to the European transport policy.
The global economy imposes increasing demands on manufacturers, distributors and consumers, increasing competition pressure among all market actors, which is undoubtedly imposed by the need to apply new strategies and a higher level of effective planning in the transport sector, which will also enable coordination and cooperation between companies and national economies around the world. In this regard, the question is stressed as to how to improve the conditions in the transport infrastructure, especially in those economies that do not have direct sea access, which will enable greater competitiveness of the national economy, generating economic growth and development, employment and harmonized regional development of the state
