Cultural aspects are more often the focus of research related to teaching English as a foreign language. In this paper we will try to give a brief overview of the views of eminent researchers in this field presented in their papers on this subject as well as the impact on the cultural aspects of studying English as a foreign language and their influence in communication in the international globalized context. The role that culture plays in the social situations of contemporary life will be analyzed. The opinions of several authors will be presented as well as their findings, discoveries and suggestions regarding the need for emphasis on cultural specialists as an important aspect in the study of English as a foreign language in times of globalization. We will focus on the use of English as a lingua franca in intercultural contacts.
