Abstract

Aim. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the periodontal condition in patients with fixed-prosthodontic
dental reconstructions.
Material and method. Total number of 30 patients aged 20 to 75 years were included. Periodontal assessment
was performed with various clinical measurements that determine the presence or absence of pathological
changes in the periodontal tissue components. The following parameters were analyzed: depth of the
periodontal pocket, level of clinical attachment, alveolar bone lose, presence of a gingival recession, degree of
gingival inflammation. The presence of traumatic occlusion, as well as the presence of additional participatory
factors were also observed.
Results. Findings about oral hygiene showed that only 20% of the total number of subjects did not maintain
regular oral hygiene, while presence of inflammatory gingival changes, the results showed a greater proportion
in females with 65%. The analysis of the results for the participation of the contributing factors indicated
that the inadequately modeled fixed-prosthodontic reconstruction was represented by 43.30%. X-ray findings
showed significant bone loss in 65% of the subjects.
Conclusion. According to these data, we can conclude that in most of the respondents who are carriers of fixedprosthodotic
reconstructions, can be noted changes in oral health, especially changes in periodontal health.
Key words: periodontal support, periodontal health, oral hygiene, prosthetic construction, gingival
inflammation.
