Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is traditionally considered as lung disease and is characterized by obstruction of airflow that occurs as result of abnormalities in the airways (bronchitis) and pulmonary parenchyma (emphysema).
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a comprehensive intervention based on a thorough assessment of the patient. It includes training, education and behavioral changes and therapies that are designed to improve the psychophysical condition of people with chronic respiratory illness.
Materials and Methods
Statistical data were taken from the Center for Public Health in Stip. Reported cases are patients at the Clinical Hospital in Stip. The data is processed epidemiologically, descriptively and statistically. This research has been conducted for a period of three years and the results are presented in a tabular and graphical manner. The choice of patients is based on the underlying diagnosis of COPD disease (MKB - j44) and does not include standards for excluding patients according to the complications that have occurred.
Results
According to the conducted research on the number of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, we have obtained results that show that the number of men who have COPD for 2015, 2016 and 2017 was 210 and 60.5% of the total number, while the number of women was 137 or 39.4% of the total.
Conclusion
From this research we can conclude that the number of patients with COPD increases linearly with age, from which the most affected are patients over 74 years of age. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is more common in men than in women. The multidisciplinary approach of pharmacological and physical therapy significantly influences the improvement of the overall health condition of the diseased.
