Abstract
Diabetic polyneuropathy, which is one of the most common complications of diabetes, is a heterogeneous group of syndromes where peripheral nervous system function is impaired. The number of newly diagnosed diabetic patients with complications in the Republic of Macedonia is increasing progressively, which is of great socioeconomic significance, as it leads to permanent disability, reduces quality of life and aggravates the social participation of patients. Because it is very important early diagnosis, prophylaxis due time and proper rehabilitation of complications occurred.
Materials and methods
Statistic data were taken from the Center for Public Health in Stip. The reported cases are patients of the Internal Unit at the Clinical Hospital Stip. All data is processed descriptively, epidemiologically and statistically. The survey is conducted over a period of three years and the results are displayed graphically and tabularly. Patients are selected according to the underlying diagnosis of Diabetes mellitus (ICD e10-e14) with complications.
Results
From the research done on the number of patients with complicated diabetes mellitus, results have been obtained showing that the number of hospitalized men in 2015, 2016 and 2017 is 134, and the number of women is 125.
Conclusion
The incidence of patients with diabetes mellitus and diabetic polyneuropathy increases markedly, with an increase in age, and the peak occurrence at the age of 64-74 years The application of rehabilitation, kinesitherapy, balneotherapy, climatotherapy, with appropriate medication provides further autonomy and functionality in the daily life of patients with diabetic polyneuropathy.
