Abstract
This paper deals with the integration of environmental content with content from English as a foreign / second language and it analyzes the contents of environmental topics in the textbooks for the teaching subject Contemporary English Language (CEL) that are taught from the first to the fourth year at the Faculty of Philology University "Goce Delcev" - Stip, R. Macedonia. Learning English as a second language or as a first foreign language should not be limited to improving fluency and accuracy of expression, but it should allow for the development of critical thinking strategies that can be useful in environmental sustainability. It can be used as a means of promoting positive and useful behavior of citizens towards the environment.
