Abstract
As integral part of overall education system, physical and health education has a great impact toward holistic development of the children. The impact of PHE contents toward holistic development of the children is noted as the main goal in Macedonian national curriculum. In Republic of Macedonia, the subject physical and health education is conducted as obligatory subject at all educational levels. This paper analyses the current situation and conditions related with establishment of PHE as school subject in primary school in Republic of Macedonia, current PHE curricula with emphasis of the objectives and thematic unions within each grade as well as the process of education of general primary school teachers and specialized PHE teachers that are conducting PHE classes in primary education. A short review of current challenges and problems that teachers are faced during PHE teaching process as well as some examples of current activities and best practices in PHE in Macedonia are also presented.
