Abstract
In this paper, a comparative analysis of the energy production obtained from wind turbine with two different types of induction generators modeled for the same location is presented. Both induction generators – double-fed induction generator (DFIG) and the conventional induction generator (IG) are simulated using the same input wind conditions. The analysis was done using real measured
data for the entire 2012 at the location of recently developed wind park location near the city of
Bogdanci, South Macedonia.
The objective of this paper was to compare obtained results using mathematical model developed in Matlab/SIMULINK environment with the really achieved production at the same site, proving the model accuracy. The results show that DFIG yields up to 40% larger energy production in relation
to conventional IG and should be considered for locations with time-varying wind conditions.
