Abstract
Despite the strictly established polarities between the Western and
the Eastern theater, the XX century drama, with Brecht as one of its representatives,
establishes relations with the Asian soil and uses the techniques of that theater (which
are imbued with zen practice as a result of integrating elements of all previous
traditions) in order to get a new art form that will be used to present a completely
different ideological viewpoints. The properties of Asian theater that contribute to
the specific atmosphere of penetration in the core areas of the cosmos and the human
soul, are used to make opposition to the mimetic theater and thereby achieve a new
awareness of the essence of human relations in modern society.
