Abstract
Goal: The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence of aggressive
forms of parodontopathy among students of dental medicine at the University
of Goce Delchev in Stip.
Materials and methods: A total number of 186 dental students were clinically
examined (with probing), analysis of dental pantomography, also a anamnesis
is taken about the presence of similar clinical phenomena.
Results: Of the total number of respondents, it is noted that two of them
(1.08%) show clinical and x-ray signs of localized aggressive periodontitis.
From the history of one of the patients, two risk factors have been identified:
smoking and possible positive family history, unlike the second respondent,
where no risk factors have been found. In both subjects, with localized
aggressive periodontitis, a low plaque index exists (average value of OHI
index is 0.89). None of the respondents have been positive for generalized
aggressive periodontitis.
Conclusion: The localized aggressive periodontitis is an extremely rare
periodontal disease. But because of the rapid progression
of the condition and the increased risk of tooth loss, it is necessary to pay
special attention about it
Key words: Aggressive periodontitis, localized aggressive periodontitis,
generalized aggressive periodontitis, dental students
