Abstract

Although the idea of making a comparison between the preambles of the constitutions of both Republics i.e. Portugal and Macedonia may look unusual, if we take into consideration that they are geographically rather distant and follow different historical trajectories, it is however in the interest for the legal science. As known Portugal is a member of EU (and a part of the European legal space) and Macedonia is a country with official candidate status (which means that Macedonian law must be adapted to the EU law). Hence, when hopefully Macedonia will become an EU member and because a comparison like this has never been done before, this can only has positive contribution in the field of European constitutional law.
