Abstract

Simulation is well-known method for analyzing dynamic processes at electrical machines. During recent years it has proven itself as good enough replacement for laboratory
tests, especially when expensive equipment is required, which is not always available. Paper describes application of Simulink for demonstrating operation of three phase squirrel cage motor with voltage inverter as well as for putting into operation of DC motor with multi-stage resistance starter. Obtained results give useful information about all relevant motor parameters such as:
winding current, speed and electromagnetic torque plotted as dynamic characteristics. Paper gives analysis of influence of the inverter on operational characteristic of asynchronous squirrel cage motor as well as influence of multi-stage resistance starter on operation of DC motor.
