Abstract

This project represents a serious attempt for discovering and presenting the meaning and the role of mobbing as a new contemporary concept in Macedonia in the last 3-4 years. Mobbing is commonly defined as repeated, non-physical harassment in the workplace in certain period, which aims to humiliate and belittle the employee.
The forms of mobbing that have been occurring in the global and European practice commonly refer to psycho-physical harassment of the employee, various forms of sexual harassment, discrimination against ethnic and religious affiliation and discrimination because of different economic, political and social belonging. In terms of legislation in the Republic of Macedonia, the amendments to the Labour Law (Official Gazette no. 62/05, 106/08 161/08) were not sufficient to protect employees in the public and private sector from mental harassment at the workplace.
The purpose of the proposed project is:
- Through empirical research to define the forms of mobbing, the professions, the consequences and legal protection of victims exposed to mobbing in Macedonia
- Opening office for legal, social and psychological assistance to the victims of mobbing.
The scientific methodology of the project includes research and analysis of cases in the towns where there are labor-intensive industries (textile industry) in Stip and Kocani, towns with the greatest concentration of population, like Skopje, towns with mixed ethnic composition, like Gostivar, and concentration of Roma population in Prilep. Research will be directed to the mobbing cases reported in the courts in Skopje, Stip, Kocani, Gostivar and Prilep
