Abstract
During mechanical and manual preparations and incision of hard dental tissues consecutive smear layer is created. The views of the scientific community for its elimination or incorporation are divided.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the techniques and methods for removing the smear layer during endodontic therapy procedures.
In this research will be presented different chemicals and materials and physical methodologies that eliminate the smear layer, through assessment of literary knowledge and our own clinical observations and analysis.
Effective elimination of smear layer directly affects the outcome from endodontic treatment and post therapy survival of teeth in the oral cavity.
Key words: endodontic treatment, smear layer, EDTA, laser.
