Abstract

The paper aims to present the impact that the Russian novel had on the
French literature at the beginning of the XX century, through concrete
examples from the works of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy and the poetic response
of the French writer Marcel Proust on them. Emphasis is placed on the fact
that Slavic literature during that period in France is highly regarded and
the works that represent the French nation and in which intertextuality was
mainly dominated by French authors` works, drew inspiration also from the
eastern literatures.
