Abstract
The small and medium enterprises, their development and the innovations seen through examples from entrepreneurs and family businesses which deal with the rural tourism in Republic of Macedonia, are the subject of this paper.
Following will be given the general characteristics of small and medium enterprises and their role and participation in the tourist sector with particular
focus on the rural tourism. At the end of the paper will be given comments, suggestions and recommendations about the perspectives of the small and medium enterprises which are one of the main factors for the tourism
development and popularization of traveling to rural environments.
