Abstract

Coming directly from Skopje, Macedonia, Music Progressive Quartet (MPQ) is comprised of four young, conservatory-trained, world class professional classical musicians who play with the National Macedonian Philharmonic orchestra and quest with countless other groups and at numerous festivals in the Balkans and beyound. In MPQ, they break out into another idiom, presenting a fresh jazz take on traditional folk songs of Macedonia. They beguile the audiences worldwide with total mastery of their instrument innovative and witty arrangements, and a warm and engaging stage manner. Members of MPQ are Vladimir Lazarevski on oboe, Vladimr Krstev on violin, Marko Videnovic on viola and as composer and Paskal Krapovski on cello. The quartet portfolio includes performance at festivals like ʺBlues and Jazz Rallyeʺ in Lusemburg, ʺBalkan music nightʺ in Concord, Massachusetts, ʺGeza Balazs Gari Jazz festivalʺ in Serbia, ʺDays of the Slavic literacy and cultureʺ in Moscow, Russia, ʺEnsemble studio theatreʺ in NYC, ʺCzech culture in centerʺ in Sofia, Bulgaria, ʺBitfestʺ, ʺModoarsʺ and ʺSkopje summer festʺ in Macedonia and famous international jazz stages as Porgy & Bess in Viena, Austria, DROM in NYC, Lilypad in Boston ectr. On Suturday, April 2oth, the quartet will be performing at Lucid jazz lounge in Seattle.
