Abstract
Unlike many people who can hear, the number of those who can actively listen is much lower. The main reason for this is the fact that this skill requires a lot of effort and adjustment. Most often people compete who says what and have a strong need to express their opinion. This indicates exactly that need for people to be heard, while forgetting on the other side that the interlocutor has the same need to be heard. Impatience in communication is contrary to what active listening implies. True conversation, which is positive, good, constructive communication, involves active listening, which is a technique that can be developed only if we have the capacity for empathy, compassion for the interlocutor. Analogous to these observations, the problem of active listening also occurs in the education system at all levels. For this reason, the purpose of this paper is to investigate all determinants that influence active listening in teaching, in order to help refine this process, and to assist all participants in communicating in teaching, and thus achieve greater understanding, efficiency and effectiveness in teaching, thereby improving the quality of the teaching process itself, which is the ultimate goal of every educational system in every society.
