Abstract

Remote control systems have become an integral part of the modern substations worldwide. Known as SCADA systems they have been implemented in wide range of the new substations from 110 kV up to 400 kV level. Paper presents the SCADA solution in the new 110/20 kV susbstation Bogdanci, constructed for the connection of the wind park Bogdanci to the power gird. The system was significantly enhanced by implementing IEC 61850 protocol thus establishing a secure and fast communication with intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) in signal and in the command direction as well. System is based on Sicam Pas Siemens solution with redundant optical ring, two Sicam Pas stations and redundant visualization computers. The wind park was put into operation in 2015 and with its installed power of 36.8 MW has significantly contributed to the country’ economy and increased the portion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources. The 110/20 kV substation with its remote control system integrated into SCADA system of national dispatching center (NDC) has enhanced the network security and reliability.
