Abstract

In this paper optimization for cutting the material used for sewing a new advanced model of protective vest for special purposes was made. Material that was used for sewing the model was Polyamide 6.6 with water-repellent coating. Material savings are of great importance in the construction of the model of protective clothes because this material has a high price on the market. Five different cutting layouts were made, and each of them shows various percentage of material utilization. All patterns for analyzed model of protective vest were made in OPTITEX PDS while cutting layouts were made in OPTITEX CutPlan software. This software program gives the possibility for most optimal solutions for processing a certain model, especially in terms of lower material costs. The factors that have influence on the percentage of material utilization are also shown.

Keywords: textile materials, patterns, cut plan software, cutting layouts.
