Abstract

This paper explores the question of autobiographical discourse in modern Macedonian literature for children and youth. For this purpose, we will elaborate the text from the novels "Misirkov`s childhood" (Detstvoto na Misirkov) by Kata-Misirkova Rumenova and "Tales from Sarakinovo" (Prikazni od Sarakinovo) by Penny Trpkovski. This analysis may include other works, but, the fact remains that this type of narration is not very present in contemporary Macedonian proses for children and young people. At the very beginning, we will determine the basic theoretical settings according to which a text can be considered autobiographical, or that it has autobiographical elements. Moreover, we will review different approaches of the writers of what should be considered an “autobiographical text”, with specific implications of the explicit and implicit autobiographical/fictional techniques or elements in a particular work.
