Abstract

The concept of expressing the "acidity" or "alkalinity" of aqueous solution via the value of "pH" comes from the need to establish a relative scale for comparing alkaline-acid properties of various water solutions. In this lecture, a relevant set of equations are presented that consider various acid-base equilibria in water solutions. In addition, we give relevant formulas to estimate pH and pOH parameters in aqueous solutions of strong acids and strong bases. Moreover, we give an insight into important acid-base equilibria in physiological systems. The lecture is on Macedonian language, suitable for students of General Medicine and Pharmacy.
