Abstract

Eocene flysch sediments in the Republic of Macedonia in significant masses are preserved on the territory of Vardar Zone. Smaller masses are represented at locations Deve Bair (Kriva Palanka) and Vetren and other localities around Delcevo, as in border areas with R. Bulgaria.
The main goal of research within this research project was to use a modern approach in paleontological research, to make a complex study of foraminifera fauna and nanofossil flora of Eocene flysch basins. On the bases of the determined microflora and mikrofauna in paleogene basins in the Republic of Macedonia 5 superpositional litostratigraphic units (litozones) were separated.
