Abstract
The project aims at restoring the normal social and economic life of over 7977 people. It proposes a complex decision of the problems with high waters in two of the worst affected municipalities - Karbinci and Strumiani. The project includes as a main activity the corection of river Kozjachka in Karbinci and river Shashka in Strumiani that has been destroyed and threatens the health of citizens in the both Municipalities. The project envisages the construction works in both municipalities and supervisions of the sites. The project was developed on the basis of preliminary studies and analyzes the status of the two watercourses. Realization of the project will ensure the safety and health of the population in the target region.
The main project result will be the raised safety of local population from Strumyani and Karbinci from natural disasters and prevented flooding for the main settlements of the two municipalities. Project outputs are related to prevention of flood disasters in urbanized territory of Strumyani and Karbinci trough correction, building of protective walls and cleaning of: 256 meters of the Kozjachka riverbed and for Shashka river to solve section of the gully between threshold 4 and threshold 28 with axial length of 340 m and a total length of 682 m retaining walls. The main project result will also
raised capacity of 30 representatives of municipal administration and experts from other responsible insitutions acting in the field of desasters of karbinci and Strumyani (like RIEWs, Basin Directorate, Municipality of Strumini, Karbinci Municipality, NGOs, District administration etc.) including youths and roma and disabled people. The target group will be introduced to the application of new technoligies in the field of disaster management, the posibilities for partnership in the prevention of disasters, the role of population in the disaster prevention etc. The monitoring of the river beds and their cleaning will be done regular not less then 5 years after the project and will be distributed and communicated to all relevant authorities, which have the responsibility of sustainable management and prevention of disasters.
