Abstract

In accordance with the goals and the realized program provided under the proposed research project the predicted and expected results according to the phases of research were obtained. In this context, among the first that should be pointed out is the study of rare elements and elements from the group of the rare earth elements in individual polymetallic sites in Macedonia. Besides presenting them within the project report they were published as scientific papers, too. Then, we would give accent to the results from the newly studied areas as potential mining spots such as Kadiica, Ilovica and Kazandol. Here, we are mainly talking about the results obtained from geochemical research by primary and secondary halo of scattering, both in a standard laboratory test procedure and with the new field-laboratory method (NITON). As a final result geochemical maps of copper and associated elements in these sites were obtained. Also, special emphasis was given to the research of the rare and disseminated elements in coals from specific Neogene basins in Macedonia. It is completely new data in our region. Here we would like to stress that the certain studies within project regarding environmental issues were published in well known journals such as Environmetal Geochemistry and Health, and some others. Special attention was given to the study of the data from anthropogenic deposits and their ecological and specific economic importance. It must be noted that the data regarding the economic implications are respectable, since they are pioneers in such a form on the territory of our country. This was achieved also because of the strengthened bilateral cooperation between our two institutions.
