Abstract

Considering the fact that in Macedonia 24 thousand hectares are under vineyards, which on average amount to about 240 thousand tons of wine, supplemented with the benefits of natural development, it can be said that there is great potential for developing a modern form of alternative tourism. In order to achieve the goal, a SWOT analysis and a TOWS matrix on the resource basis for the development of wine tourism in Macedonia will be made. This will provide insight into the current state of wine tourism and will see the possibilities for its development. Successful examples from other countries will also provide recommendations for activities that should be undertaken for the development of wine tourism, as well as respect for the principles of sustainable development.
