Abstract

Regardless of the development, almost all countries tend to develop tourism, i.e. to seriously engage in the tourism flows, because this provides the dynamics of the total social economic development. Tourism is an important indicator of economic development, the achieved standard, material well-being, cultural level, politics and other openness and cooperation. Macedonia has no doubt, has a quality and diverse basis for the development of tourism. Natural activities, as well as the achieved level of upcoming and other capacities indicate that several types of tourism can develop, especially considering the spatial diversity of the natural potential. In doing so, one should bear in mind that Macedonia is a very attractive transit area. The development of the tourism economy depends mainly on the level and state of development of the entire economy of a country. We can conclude that the construction of the tourist economy is related to other economic activities. Accordingly, a small country such as Macedonia, according to the territorial size and the number of inhabitants, should direct its economic growth through the development of tertiary activities, among which a significant place is taken by tourism. Keywords: promotion of tourism, economic development, economic development, benefits, natural potential.
