Abstract

The city house in Strumica in the 19 and the beginning of the 20 century contains certain spatial and architectonic values. The article contains a description of the spatial housing concept, the typology of the spatial characteristics in the development of the house in a horizontal and vertical direction, where are presented the basic types of spatial disposition of rooms on two or three levels. In that respect are important the spatial features of the house expressed through the shaping of the rooms and their mutual relationship, which fit into a
harmonious spatial and functional entirety. The features of the Strumica town house are recognizable through the formation of a local building expression, with recognizable spatial contents (open oriels, kitchens, guest rooms) – as a part of the features of the Ottoman architecture and the local specificities of the
residential architecture of the Balkans.
