Abstract

Leisure time is an integral part of human activities. It is time away from the professional, family and social
obligation, time during which the individual person chooses on their own free will the forms and the
content of their creative activities, rest and relaxation. The participation of students in sports activity during
leisure time is very important for personal physical and mental health. It`s a constructive way to release
the negative energy, decreese the stress, improve emotional stability and personal well being. The aim of
this paper is to determine and compare the physical activity of students from same faculties in different
countries their participation in sports activities during leisure time as well as to determine their opinions
about the role of the Universities in organization of students` the leisure time. The study was conducted
on a sample of 294 students currently studying in Bachelor degree programmes – 166 students from
the Faculty of Preschool and Primary School Education part of the St. Kliment Ohridski Sofia University,
Bulgaria, and 128 students from the Faculty of Educational Sciences, from Goce Delcev University in
Stip, Macedonia. The study was conducted using specially designed questionnaire consisted of 18 questions
closed questions, compiled according to the nature of the study. The results of the study were analysed and presented using frequency (f) and percentages (%). The gathered data were processed using statistic
package SPSS 19.
