Abstract

Following current trends in education today, more than ever, searching for the answer to the question of the competence of the teacher, core competencies, knowledge, skills that should have every modern teacher (departmental, event), which will be based for his further professional development.
Having in mind the importance and role of physical education for the development and practice healthy lifestyles, developing awareness of the importance of their own health, the need for fostering the development of physical abilities, raises the question of the competence of the teacher in physical upbringing and education as one of the factors that determine the successful implementation of teaching physical education and upbringing.
In the paper we tried to answer several key questions: Who and what competencies should have modern teacher? Based on the analysis of the course programs in physical education (basic and methodology) into teaching faculties in Macedonia to determine: Who and what knowledge and competences should have future school teacher in physical education and the question whether the necessary changes aimed to improving the competence of these teachers?
