Abstract

Remittances represent large and growing source of foreign exchange in many countries of Southeast Europe. The main purpose of this paper is to analyse the macroeconomic aspects of these flows. The paper has three parts. The first part discusses the size and macroeconomic impact of remittances in the region of Southeast Europe. The next part deals with the dynamics of remittances during the global economic crisis (2008-) and with the prospects for their sustainability. Third part represents small case study of the Republic of Macedonia
